Since 1991 Trey has been in court nearly five days a week defending people charged with serious crimes and representing people who have been severely injured or had loved ones killed as a result of another party’s negligence.

Trey has won numerous "Not Guilty" jury verdicts in criminal cases in Kansas and Missouri over the years including across-the-board acquittals for clients charged with murder, attempted murder, armed criminal action, rape, sodomy, aggravated battery, domestic battery, sexual battery, DUI, felony DUI and theft.
Trey's clients have included attorneys, judges, law enforcement officers, professional athletes, nurses, doctors, professors and other professionals who had a lot to lose in cases that garnered national and international media attention.
Personal Injury/Wrongful Death:
People sometimes ask why it makes sense to retain attorneys who also handle criminal defense who have a background as a prosecutor to help them with their serious personal injury or wrongful death case. The answer may not be obvious for those that don't find themselves in court very often. The truth is that criminal defense lawyers are in court much more often and have significantly more trial experience than most attorneys who just handle personal injury cases. Some Personal Injury Attorneys, including many who advertise on TV or billboards, who only handle these cases may have a trial once a year, if that often while we are in court virtually five days a week and handle several trials a month. The Personal Injury Plaintiff mills in some cases simply attempt to recruit as many clients as they can and attempt to settle their clients’ cases as quickly as possible without the threat of taking the case to trial.
Trey has won numerous jury trials involving serious personal injury and wrongful death in Kansas and Missouri, securing significant verdicts for his clients injured in car accidents, dog bite cases and other cases involving negligent or reckless incidents. Additionally, and to some extent because of this trial experience, he has also been able to obtain tremendous settlements for his clients, once again underscoring the value of the “threat of litigation” when the other party is deflecting or minimizing their responsibility.

Trey is admitted to practice in Missouri, Kansas, the United States District Courts for Missouri and Kansas and the United States Supreme Court and has tried jury trials in Kansas, Missouri and Federal Court. In fact, Trey’s cases have taken him all over the United States from California to Maine.

Ryan does primarily criminal defense and has a great deal of experience defending both adults and juveniles who are charged with crimes. Ryan is one of the very few attorneys in Kansas City to win a "Not Guilty by Reason of Mental defect" jury verdict. For several years Ryan gave monthly lectures on juvenile law, and he has extensive experience with every phase of the juvenile case from defending a client against the most serious allegations including sex crimes or other violent crimes to defending a juvenile waived to adult court or certified for adult prosecution.
Personal Injury/Wrongful Death:
Over the years, Ryan has been able to get numerous extraordinary recoveries for clients gravely injured in automobile accidents, trucking accidents, trip and fall cases and dog bite cases.
